RE: Upper level travel trailers I'm forgetting??

Nash, Arctic Fox (From Northwood Manufacturing) and Outdoors RV. The nice thing about these is they all build their own frames instead of outsourcing the frame manufacturing to Lippert (LCI). Since 2003 I've owned quite a few RVs from the above companies. I've owned two Arctic Fox Truck camper, a Desert Fox Toy Hauler, a Nash 22h and 17K and an Outdoors RV (ORV) 24RLS. I've also participated in multiple discussion groups for all the above brands since 2003 and have never heard of frame defects, cracks, breaks, failures like you hear about with LCI frames. This is just a question for my edification... I like the fact that the brands you mention build their own frames - I'm FAR from an LCI fanboy. Do these brands do a better job with the suspension, e.g. the spring hangers, brackets, wet bolts, etc., that are problematic on the Lippert frames? Rob

RE: Suspension on 2004 Coachman Dream Catcher

Extremely unlikely that they are OEM. Take one off and take it to a local parts store and have them match it for dimensions and performance. Rob

RE: Where to go for RV fishing trip in AZ or New Mex in November

Just about anywhere in northern New Mexico and many places in the Gila Wilderness have good stream (trout) and small lake (trout and bass) fishing... but November will be pretty chilly in those parts with subfreezing temps at night. You'll also need a non-resident fishing license: License Type Resident* Nonresident Annual Fishing $25.00 $56.00 One-day Fishing 12.00 12.00 Five-day Fishing 24.00 24.00 Rob

RE: Paradigm Rv..Alliance 5th

The folks across the street from us (military FamCamp with long-termers) sold their Solitude and moved into an Alliance Paradigm a year or two ago. We're in northern Maryland on the upper Chesapeake and they never had any issues with plumbing freezing in the Solitude... they did in the Paradigm last winter. I don't know the technical differences in build and insulation between the two units. Rob

RE: Which 303 protect for fifth wheels

Can I use this in the fiber glass side portions of just the nose cone and decals Many of us use Wash Wax All for the main fiberglass parts of the RV. It was developed for the aviation and aerospace industries intially. Rob

RE: Side by side towing

I don't think any of the options above would be legal behind a travel trailer. Double-towing is only legal behind fifth wheels. Rob

RE: Recommendations for solar charge/controller

As stated, you'll need to go MPPT - Victron makes quality, well-regarded units. Rob

RE: McHitch couolings are available again in the US

Out of curiosity, what is the coupling for? Just looking at it, is it a fully articulated coupling for off-road use with lighter pull-behind trailers? Rob

RE: The Price Is Right

The rig is impressive. I'd never get it in 98% of the campgrounds we like to stay at. There is room on the truck frame for a side mounted car, that is probably the next step. I thought that was a lot of space on the truck frame. How will it get up and down? I notice your travel map in your signature. I used to have one but then it stopped working. Are they working again? It looks like you haven't been to Alabama or Louisiana. I'm in Alabama today and in about 5 days I will be in Louisiana. There is a very active HDT (heavy duty truck) group in the Escapees RV Club - all with singled semis pulling large/heavy fifth wheels. (The Volvos are the most popular HDTs and Freightliner Sport Chassis the most popular MDTs). Lots of them carry Smart Cars on the tractor behind the cab and, yes, side-mount ramps is how they do it. RE: Coachman Concord convection microwave

The OEM microwaves or convection microwaves that RV manufacturers use are, for the most part, garbage. We just replaced our 30" over-the-range Furrion convection microwave with an LG. I had to switch out the lower rear bracket and drill two new holes for the top screws in the upper cabinet. It was a perfect fit from a size perspective and the quality and functions are miles ahead of the OEM Furrion. Don't get stuck trying to find what originally came in the RV - especially from that long ago. Rob

RE: Has anyony upgraded to Android 13 on cell phone?

Look through all of the "Notifications" settings and see if there is one for Android or system notifications that got turned on with the update. Rob

RE: Hard to camp with one of these!

Any decent 5th wheel toy hauler could easily handle it. The only issue would be the temperature changes in the garage of a toy hauler affecting the tuning... but since you're a "pianotuna," that shouldn't be a problem. Rob

RE: Need 24-36 5th wheels a year-New or quality used...

First off, I would ask where you plan to use them. Many counties across the country have codes that prohibit use of RVs for permanent/stationary housing. Rob

RE: Unusual propane plumbing???

Both of our fifth wheels have been set up that way. Why do you call it "non-standard?" Rob

RE: Highway 89 in Utah

I have the eBook version (east/west combo) on my laptop and never plan a trip without it - especially in mountainous states: The Mountain Directory Another handy RV trip planning tool is: RV Trip Wizard RV Trip Wizard is extremely handy for both planning routes and finding places to stay. It's a paid subscription service, but I find it worth every penny. It cut planning time by 2/3 for me on our 3,600 mile, 30+ stop trip last spring. Rob

RE: Atlanta,Ga

This has been asked and answered innumerable times on the forum. Having lived in Augusta, GA, for 26 years necessitating towing through Atlanta to get west, we found that towing straight through on I-20 to be the best - avoiding rush hours, of course. Avoid the loop I-285 AT ALL COSTS. An RV-specific GPS such as the Garmin RV series really helps with being in the correct lane making things smoother and less stressful. Rob

If it's a Lippert slide (high likelihood), Lippert Customer Service is very responsive and helpful over the phone. 432-547-7378. Rob

RE: Wingard PA6002R Pathway X2, Satellite Receiver, Good??

The Pathway X2 is an antenna - not a receiver. That said, it is the best of the portable automatic Dish Network antennas and can get both the eastern and western Dish satellite groups (meaning you can get HD locals in any part of the country). We've used an X2 with a Wally receiver for eight years and it has served us well. Rob

RE: Oops… Went to buy Newmar then saw a Newell.

This isn't directly related to your questions, but just a thought: there have been more posts lately on the three forums I frequent about some privately-owned parks not allowing RVs older than 10 or 15 years (depending on the park) into the park(s). We don't go places like that, anyway, so it wouldn't matter to us. Rob

RE: Getting Warranty Service While Living In Your RV

It varies from dealer to dealer. The dealer we purchased both of our full-time fifth wheels from would make an appointment and get us in and out the same day for minor stuff - even a washer/dryer installation. When we needed warranty work done and weren't in our dealer's area, Grand Design stepped up to the plate and paid for a mobile tech. Rob Sweet. I guess that's why Grand Design was a lot more expensive. I may regret going cheap. (but I don't regret it yet) Our Solitude was no more expensive than any other similarly equipped and built mid-grade "residential" capable fifth wheel. They all use the same appliances and basic components, anyway. Rob
